I teach piano, keyboard, flute and guitar. I teach all ages and standards and can teach in student's homes as well at my home in Acomb. As a performer, teacher, composer, arranger and conductor, I has been involved in a wide range of musical activities and roles through my education and career. Having studied at Huddersfield Polytechnic, as it was known then, Iwas awarded a Graduate Diploma in Music; then successfully undertook a Master of Arts degree at the University of York, specialising in flute.

At both Huddersfield and York I studied flute with John Barrow, who studied with Geoffrey Gilbert – one of the foremost English flute players of the 20th century – and has played in most British Orchestras. During this time I also continued my piano studies beyond Grade 8, played in various orchestras and ensembles as well as holding down a pub pianist job during term time. More recently I worked as Director of Music for Queen Ethelburga’s School, a position which I held for six years. This role involved leading choirs and instrumental groups as well as teaching GCSE, A Level and BTec music. It was a privilege to be part of the student musical journey and to see several students go on to study music at university and/or conservatoire.
