Professional Guitar teacher with Post-Graduate Diplomas from the Royal Northern College of Music and BA(Hons) in Jazz Studies from Leeds College of Music. Richard teaches all styles, from beginner to advanced level, specialising in fingerstyle and classical guitar. He also teaches theory to Grade 8 Level. An engaging teacher, he has taught masterclasses at Cork School of Music, Ancora School of Music, Portugal and The Royal Scottish Academy. He has also taught for a number of years in schools, sixth form colleges and specialist music centres. An experienced performer, he has worked with the BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and Birmingham Royal Ballet and recorded for BBC Radio 3 and Chandos records. He was a founding member of the Aquarelle Guitar Quartet – his work with the group included awards to study in Athens, Brussels and tours of Scotland, Ireland and Greece. As a soloist, he has toured the Mediterranean, Caribbean and South America aboard cruise ships as well as a mainland tour of Portugal. He is currently active in community music in addition to his teaching work, running adult learning groups (singing and guitar) and therapeutic music sessions for older adults. He is fully DBS checked, punctual and reliable. He enjoys teaching people of all ages, bringing a wide variety of music and experience into his sessions.
